A "Europe Day" reception was jointly hosted by the EU Delegation to Indonesia and the EU Mission to ASEAN on 9 May at Mandiri Museum Jakarta. Europe Day (9 May) is a celebration of peace and unity in Europe. Every year in May, the EU institutions in Europe as well as its offices all over the world organise a variety of activities for all ages to mark the day and raise awareness about the EU.

Sixty-eight years ago today, French foreign minister Robert Schuman proposed a joint authority to oversee French and German production of coal and steel, launching an ambitious and remarkable project which has shaped the course of European history and redefined Europe's place in the world.

This project – of peace, of partnership, of shared values and solidarity – is far from over.
