Definitions of the Arctic

Geographically, the Arctic can be defined in several ways. One definition of the Arctic covers the area North of the Arctic Polar Circle (latitude of 66°33′45.9″ N). Another definition covers those areas that have an average temperature of below 10°C in July. A further definition defines the Arctic as areas without forests due to permafrost and cold temperatures.
