27/09/2016 - Civil liberties MEPs back plans to waive visa requirements for Ukrainians
Plans to waive visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens entering the Schengen area were approved by the Civil Liberties Committee on Monday. If approved by Parliament and Council, it will allow Ukrainians who have a biometric passport to enter the EU area without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period, for business, tourist or family purposes.

On 7 September 2015, Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, received Pavlo Klimkin, Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs, in Brussels, to discuss the latest developments in the country. Federica Mogherini reaffirmed to Pavlo Klimkin the EU's unanimous support for full implementation of Minsk Agreements. The recent adoption of the constitutional amendments by Verkhovna Rada was an important step forward in the implementation. They also discussed the upcoming local elections in Ukraine scheduled for 25 October.
