Visit to the LGBTI Centre (30/10/2014)

On Thursday, 30 October, at 16:00hrs, the EU Ambassador Aivo Orav, together with the Ambassadors of France – Laurence Auer, Germany – Christine Althauser, Slovenia - Branko Rakovec and the Charge d’Affaires in the Embassy of The Netherlands Peter Verheyen, will attend the press conference organised by the LGBTI Support Centre (address: Naum Naumovski Borce 83, Debar Malo). Ms Uranija Pirovska, Executive director of the Helsinki Committee, and Mr Koco Andonovski, Programme director at the LGBTI Support centre, will also be present at the event.  

The European Union is committed to the principle of the universality of human rights and reaffirms that cultural, traditional or religious values cannot be invoked to justify any form of discrimination, including discrimination against LGBTI persons.

LGBTI people have the same human rights as all individuals, including the right to non-discrimination in the enjoyment of these rights. This principle is part of international instruments, as well as part of the Council of the European Union's Guidelines to promote and protect the enjoyment of all human rights by LGBTI persons.
