The European Commission provides assistance to Tanzania in the framework of the Joint Assistance Strategy for Tanzania (JAST). The European Commission has allocated a financial envelope of € 555 million in support of the JAST for the period 2008-2013. These resources, from the European Development Fund, are complemented by funding from other financing sources of the European Commission.

The following sectors of concentration have been identified for European Commission funding:

  1. Infrastructure, Communications, Transport                       € 139 million
  2. Trade and Regional Integration (NSA component)           € 55.5 million
  3. Macro-economic support                                                € 305 million

The remaining funding goes to non focal areas such as support to Non State Actors and Support to Election 2010.

The European Commission also supports Tanzania through regional and global initiatives.
