Dear visitors,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Delegation of the European Union to the Holy See, to the Order of Malta and to the UN Organisations in Rome.

I hope our website will help you better understand what the European Union is today and what our relationships with the Holy See, the Order of Malta and the three UN Rome-based agencies are.

With the Lisbon Treaty, the Institutions of the EU have undergone important changes and as a result the Delegation is representing now the European Union and its Institutions. In practice, this means that the Delegation is more involved in bringing a unified European voice to our partners in Rome. The new European External Action Service has also made the local representation of the European Union more challenging.

The aim of this site is to provide accurate information about what the European Union is doing with the United Nations Organisations in Rome to alleviate poverty and hungry and about the regular dialogue the European Union is maintaining with the Holy See and the Order of Malta.

Thank you for visiting our website. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any comments or questions. Your feedback is very much appreciated as we constantly strive to improve our services.

Laurence Argimon-Pistre

Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union
