It promotes consumers´ right to information and education, takes steps to help safeguard consumer welfare, and encourages the establishment of self-help consumer associations. It also champions product safety.

Consumer policy within the EU continues to gain in ambition. Its objective is to place consumers at the centre of the Single Market, thus empowering them to participate actively in making the market work for them.
