The EU has launched an EU police advisory team (EUPAT) in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in the framework of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP).
The launch of EUPAT follows the termination on 14 December 2005 of the mandate of the EU Police Mission PROXIMA, launched on 15 December 2003. EUPAT includes around 30 police advisors and support the development of an efficient and professional police service based on European standards of policing
