As EUBAM Rafah’s Head of Mission, my main objective is to coordinate the Mission activities and maintain the Mission’s capacity to redeploy at the Rafah Crossing Point once political and security conditions allow.
A set of targeted actions are launched to support the relevant Palestinian Border Authorities in enhancing their capacity and knowledge on border management and controls. Redeployment plans are constantly updated by the Mission experts. We also regularly share our expertise with other stakeholders involved in the issue of Borders and Crossings. I will continue to liaise with all relevant parties, including with EUPOL COPPS, the EU Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories, based in Ramallah.
With a 20-year background in the international cooperation sector, I am working everyday to deliver against the mission’s strategic objectives. My experience as the Director of International Cooperation and Technical Assistance Office at the Italian Customs Agency for 10 years, my extensive knowledge and experience of North-African and Middle-Eastern Countries and my sound background on Border Management are substantial assets to achieve, along with my team, these important tasks.
Together with the EU local offices, the EU Special Representative M. Gentilini and the EU Member States, EUBAM Rafah will contribute to build confidence building between the parties and to assist the Palestinian Authority to be ready to perform coordinated and effective border management, in line with international practices and standards.
Ms. Natalina Cea
Head of EUBAM Rafah Mission
