Doorstep by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini upon arrival at the European Council

Check against delivery.

We have today another debate on migration. Let me start by saying that talking about migration and working on migration and refugees does not mean only working on and with Turkey. We have many other routes and many other countries to deal with and this is part of my job with the foreign ministers - keeping an eye and active work on all the other countries of origin, of transit. Just yesterday we were here together with the King of Jordan to discuss the support we give to Jordan and the other countries.

So it is not only about Turkey when we talk about migration and refugees, and working with Turkey does not mean working only on refugees. We have the internal situation in Turkey we are working on, be it the human rights and rule of law issues, be it the necessary process with the Kurds to reopen spaces for peace. And obviously the work on Syria, the work to settle the Cyprus issue. We have a full range of agenda with Turkey; we are trying to deal with all of that at the same time.

And let me also say that we have an internal part we still need to focus a lot on, meaning the internal solidarity among the EU Member States implementing all the decisions already taken, starting from relocations and trying to live up to our own standards of human rights.
