Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met with Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati in Brussels today to discuss the excellent bilateral relations and the situation in the region.
The High Representative and the Minister discussed the important progress of Albania in advancing its bold reform agenda and the country's commitment to continue with the implementation of the reforms, especially in the priority areas such as justice.
The EU, stressed the High Representative, supports the adoption of a reform agenda for the sake of all Albanians - also but not only in the framework of the country's European perspective - that deserve economic growth, stability, security. The European path has already proven instrumental in creating a new spirit of dialogue and willingness of cooperation in the region, and Albania is significantly contributing to it.
Federica Mogherini and Ditmir Bushati also exchanged views on the situation in the wider region and highlighted the strong bilateral cooperation, including in management of the refugee and migration crisis and in addressing security challenges.
The High Representative/Vice-President plans to visit Albania in early March
