The United Nations Security Council's resolution on the establishment of a political mission of the United Nations to monitor and verify the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities brings Colombia one step closer to peace. International commitment is vital to help Colombia overcome a legacy of conflict and violence and lay the basis for a peaceful and stable future.
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) has a great opportunity to engage once again in regional stability and show solidarity towards Colombia by participating in this mission.
The EU has a close partnership with CELAC and will - in support with the United Nations- continue to build on its close relationship with Colombia in support of this peace process. The EU will add its efforts to those of partners in order to reach the common goal: peace and justice for the Colombian people.
