Today Burkina Faso is in a state of mourning - in which it is joined by the international community - after being hit by a terrorist attack that claimed many victims.
The EU extends its sincere condolences to the victims, their relatives and the Burkinabe people.
This terrorist act comes after the Burkinabe people, in their peaceful vote last November, clearly expressed their determination to live in peace and stability.
As I confirmed to the Heads of State and Government of the Sahel G5 last November, the European Union stands united with Burkina Faso and the other Sahel countries in fighting terrorism and protecting the values of peace, freedom and diversity. We remain committed to using all the available instruments to fight this common threat together.
