The 28th EU-Russia summit took place in Brussels on 15 December 2011.
The EU was represented by the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy and the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso. The High Representative of the Union for for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton also attended. At the head of the Russian delegation was President Dmitry Medvedev.
The EU and Russia held their 27th bilateral summit meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia on 9-10 June 2011.
