Leaders from the EU and Pakistan hold their second high level Summit, following the first ever Summit between the EU and the Asian country in June last year.

 

The EU is represented by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is represented by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

 

This second Summit provides an opportunity to strengthen the strategic dialogue between the EU and Pakistan and to discuss a number of issues, in particular regional issues, economic and trade questions as well as security and the promotion of human rights and democracy.
