Civil Society Dialogue
RELATIONS WITH CIVIL SOCIETY
The European Commission is convinced that complete involvement of civil society in the relations between the EU and Latin America is fundamental, from political dialogue through to the association agreements and the programming exercise for 2007-2013, full participation allows transparency and proper information dissemination. It also opens the door to eventual feedback through a positive dialogue. The European Commission seeks to develop a transparent working relationship with relevant stakeholders in the external policy field. Both the EC policy development documents and the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness highlight that policies are more likely to lead to effective objectives when all interlocutors participate in their development. To further this objective, a number of meetings are regularly organised to improve civil society involvement in the EU-LA relations.
