The European Council has adopted “The EU and Central Asia: Strategy for a New Partnership”
in June 2007 and the first progress report
[45 KB] followed in June 2008. The Strategy strengthens bilateral and regional relations in all areas of cooperation.
The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with the Kyrgyz Republic has provided the legal framework for EU-Kyrgyz bilateral relations since it entered into force in1999.
The future EC assistance will focus on the following priority areas: rural development and poverty reduction, support to social, political, judicial and market reforms, and regulatory reforms in the energy sector.
