Euromed and the Media started with an envisaged singular conference between the Commission and the region’s media to explore together the role and responsibility of the media in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. However, what began with a planned 3-day conference quickly evolved into an extended capacity and confidence building exercise between the Commission and the region’s wider media. The initial conference in Jordan in September 2005 quickly spawned many others, driven equally by the resolve of the journalists and media organisations themselves as well as the Commission. By the end of 2007 the original idea and remit had been extended and developed into a crucial consultative exercise with the media from the 39 countries of the Partnership
