Commissioner Füle shares expectations of the next Eastern Partnership summit (15/02/2013)

On February 13th Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle attended Informal Eastern Partnership Dialogue sectoral ministerial meeting on transport in Tbilisi, saying that the countries of the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood “have a unique opportunity to combine the value based relationship of the Eastern Partnership with strategic projects."

The Commissioner also emphasized that "this second meeting of the Informal Eastern Partnership Dialogue is about shaping the expectation of the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.” During the summit “we hope to sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine and conclude the negotiations with Georgia, Moldova and Armenia and also advance in our negotiations with Azerbaijan," he added.

Participating in the event together with the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Transport Siim Kallas and the Ministers of Transport from the six Eastern Partnership countries Füle expressed his hope that “through transport-transit we could significantly strengthen the cooperation with our partners from the Easter Partnership countries.’’

During his bilateral talks with Georgian high-ranking officials, Commissioner Füle called Tbilisi to consistently implement agreed reforms despite the challenges in the process of cohabitation.
