On Europe Day, Kyiv will host the first EuroSummit of civil society organizations

Ukraine is actively pursuing a European course. After signing the Association Agreement, obtaining candidate status for EU membership, and the decision in December 2023 to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union, the most challenging and crucial stage of European integration begins.

The success of the negotiation process will require the consolidation of efforts from all branches of government, state institutions, active support from non-governmental organizations and experts, and the conscious participation of all Ukrainians.

On Europe Day, 09 May, 2024, Kyiv will host for the first time the EuroSummit of civil society organisations to  synchronize efforts of all stakeholders. Experts, civic activists, representatives of the Ukrainian Government, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Ukraine's EU partners, will gather to develop a common agenda on Ukraine's EU accession process. The forum is organized by EasyBusiness with the support of ISAR Ednannia within the framework of the project Ukraine Civil Society Sectoral Support Activity, and in partnership with the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The forum will gather representatives of Ukrainian civil society from various fields, in particular climate and green transition, agriculture, human capital, entrepreneurship, and public administration reform.

At the EuroSummit, during panel discussions and workshops with the participation of representatives from the Ukrainian Government and the EU Delegation to Ukraine, we will discuss:

- What opportunities will Ukraine’s accession to the EU open up for the country's economy and the development of civil society?

- How did the civil society sector in EU candidate member states assist their governments in the accession negotiations?

- What is the role of CSOs in the accession process to the EU?

The outcome of the thematic groups' work will be a joint statement on the participation of the Ukrainian civil society in Ukraine's EU accession process.

EuroSummit participants will deepen their understanding of the work of the EU institutions, expand their network of contacts and partners from civil society, think tanks, the Ukrainian Government, the EU and international development partners. The event programme includes presentations from analysts of the EasyBusiness NGO.
