Numerous cultural & sports activities to celebrate Europe Day 2012 (20/04/2012)
On Monday, 23 April, Ambassador Aivo Orav, Deputy Prime Minister Teuta Arifi and the President of the European Movement, Prof Mileva Gjurovska, will hold a press conference at the EU InfoCentre in Skopje in order to present the activities for celebrating this year’s Europe Day.
The Delegation of the European Union in partnership with the Secretariat for European Affairs and the European Movement has organised over 30 events in order to celebrate the 62nd birthday of the European Union and bring the European integration process closer to the citizens.
Europe Day 2012 will be celebrated in many ways including the traditional European Flag Day (28 April), the Europe Day marathon (6 May), the Waiters’ & Waitresses race (9 May), the Europe Day happening (12 May) as well as numerous debates, lectures, competitions and local festivities taking place all over the country.
This year, for the first time, the EU Delegation is organising an information campaign "The EU in Close-Up", which will consist of a travelling EU bus and an EU info stand where face-to-face information will be provided to the inhabitants of 10 villages: Dolneni (Prilep), Bosilovo (Strumica), Gorno Orizari (Veles), Rusinovo (Berovo), Velgoshti (Ohrid), Lipkovo (Kumanovo), Labunishta (Struga), Bogovinje (Tetovo), Mogila (Bitola) and Vrapchishte (Gostivar).
