In recent years, the number of vehicles in the old city of Skopje significantly increased. The European Union financed the installation of hydraulic and static bollards in eight different entrances to control vehicle access to the old town. The old town streets became safer and the Old Bazaar, a cultural and historic monument from the 10th century, gained some of its charm back.

We strongly condemn the resumption of hostilities in and around Bentiu, in South Sudan. We note the statement by IGAD attributing responsibility for hostilities to the SPLM-in-Opposition and look forward to a more detailed assessment from the IGAD Monitoring and Verification Mechanism.
