On 31 October 2000, the UN Security Council adopted a landmark document that recognised women’s vital role in building peace, stability, and democracy. The 25 th anniversary of the Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security was an occasion – also in North Macedonia - to take stock of the achievements, but also of the way the world still needs to go to fully accomplish the Resolution’s goal.

As part of her annual Western Balkan tour, on 15 October, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, visited North Macedonia. She held meetings with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova and Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi.
