Health Information Roundtables conducted nationwide (14/05/2014)

Dushanbe, 14 May 2014 – The European Union funded project "Technical assistance to support the strengthening of the health information system in Tajikistan" presented the current status of the project activities during the informational roundtables, conducted in all regions for more than 250 representatives of khukhumats, civil registration offices, health care facilities, agency of statistics.

The project is focused on strengthening the health management information system for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Ministry of Justice, Civil Registration Office and Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and will allow gathering timely the information on the population health for the analysis and decision making process. 

The DHIS2 information system has been adjusted, configured and installed on the central servers. The necessary equipment was distributed to health care facilities and Civil Registration Offices of all 65 districts and cities of the Republic of Tajikistan. New modules for the information system were developed for the Civil Registration Office, aiming to collect seven types of vital events (birth, death, marriage, divorce, filiation, adoption, and change of name). 44 facilities were connected to the central server and the data entry started in online regime in Dushanbe. By now, 250 specialists from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and Ministry of Justice were trained in DHIS2.

The accompanied technical assistance EUR 3,4 mln project "Technical Assistance to Support the Strengthening of the Health Information System" which focuses on the roll-out a country-wide electronic reporting system will last till May 2016 and is being implemented by EPOS Health Management (Germany) in consortium with ICON-Institute Public Sector (Germany), Oslo University (Norway) and IrfatC (Tadjikistan).
