Government: Juba Determined to Hinder Talks on Outstanding Issues (06/02/2012)

(Sudan Vision) The Sudanese Government has stressed its commitment to negotiations with the Republic of South Sudan (RoSS) as the best means to arrive at an agreement on contentious issues.
Al-Obeid said RoSS is trying to create obstacles for coming talks by setting preconditions, adding that any preconditions would be regarded as an attempt to derail talks even before they kick off.
The Sudanese Government has threatened to resort to 'Plan B' should RoSS continue to show unwillingness to reach an agreement on the outstanding issues.
Meanwhile, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti said Juba relies on Sudan for subsistence, pointing out that when the North decided to close the border to stop flow of food to the South its leaders had made a lot of noise including those who are now creating tension between Khartoum and Juba such as Pagan Amum.
