EEAS' participation in Security Jam : Launch of the communication campaign (07/02/2012)

Dear Colleagues in Delegations and Missions,
EEAS is an official partner of Security Jam, an online brainstorming on global security issues taking place from March 19th to 23rd 2012. Representatives of national governments and armed forces, international institutions, NGOs, think-tanks, industry and the media will use this "unique opportunity to collectively define the solutions to pressing security issues". The most innovative recommendations will be presented to the NATO and EU leaderships ahead of the May 2012 Chicago summits.
The registration for the Security Jam will open on Monday the 6th February. We will publish the link on the EEAS website on Monday and would be grateful if you could make sure the Jam is visible on the Delegations' websites too.
You’ll find attached two types of banners that you can use for your websites.
Website (www.securityjam.org) : The website is fully online (VIPs page to be published within a few hours, and more info about the forums will be posted on Monday). We are currently defining the VIP level participation of the EEAS.
Social media: The organisers will begin using Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn on Monday and we will start using the EEAS social media platforms as well. As soon as individual forums’ contents is online, the organisers will begin putting posts like “Join experts from [institutional partners/think-tank] to discuss [forum topic]”, with links to the Jam page and our website. Please feel free to re-tweet these messages ! The organisers will also tweet about new confirmed VIPs and other news as we go.

Standard text description of the Jam:
"Let’s Jam. The Security Jam focuses the brain power of thousands of experts around the world on key security issues. Over five days participants will login to a state-of-the-art online collaboration platform to discuss topics as diverse as strategic partnerships, crisis management, cyber-security and future capabilities. Leading subject-matter experts will focus discussions on producing concrete solutions.
Now it’s your turn. Take this opportunity to influence leaders with your ideas. Whether you are a soldier in Afghanistan, a researcher in London or a diplomat in Sierra Leone, the quality of your ideas is all that matters. Security Jam 2012 lets you take part in frank discussions and the free exchange of ideas with colleagues worldwide, and then you can select the most innovative ideas.
Make a real impact. Global leaders will receive the Jam’s initial results ahead of the NATO and G8 summits in Chicago in May 2012. EU and NATO leadership will receive the full report, including the ten most acclaimed recommendations, in Brussels later that month. The report will also be sent to thousands of high-level policymakers around the world. Take advantage of this unique opportunity; join us March 19th – 23rd 2012."
Please feel free to share these elements with yourcolleagues in the Member States Embassies, too.
We would like to establish a list of EEASparticipants, with minimum participation in each forum. Please let Kyriakos Revelas Kyriakos.Revelas@eeas.europa.eu from the Security Policy Division know if you or any of your colleagues are interested in actively participating .
We will send you further guidance and guidelines soon, and Kyriakos is the contact point on content issues.
At this stage, we join the communication campaign! Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
With best wishes from snowy Brussels,
Maria
