Information Session on the EU’s 7th Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development (16/05/2012)
Malaysian Researchers Get Tips on FP7 Research Cooperation Proposals
More than 80 participants from universities, research institutes and government agencies from across Malaysia took part in the Information Session on 16 May at the Prince Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The event was jointly organised by the EU Delegation to Malaysia and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and ran in conjunction with the 2012 ASEAN-EU Year of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Apart from giving an overview on how to prepare quality proposals and apply for funding under the EU’s research programme, the session also introduced participants to the specific thematic research priorities of mutual interest for Malaysia and the EU. EU experts, as well as Malaysian National Contact Points for FP7 presented their specific fields of responsibility including renewable energy, food security, biotechnology, as well as automotives, space and aeronautics.
The EU’s 7th Framework Programme is the largest single research and technological development promotion programme in the world. In 2011 the programme had a budget of MYR35 billion. In 2012, the funding would increase to MYR40 billion. This is Europe's biggest ever investment in research and innovation.
