EU launched its 2012 drawing competition on "Asia-Europe Relations" (30/04/2012)
The Delegation of the European Union in Laos launched a drawing contest for Lao students aged from 10-18 years olds, with the theme "Asia-Europe Relations". The participants are invited to create an art piece or drawing, expressing their vision on Asia-Europe relations with the emphasis on three pillars of the ASEM Process such as Political, Economic and Socio-cultural relations. Students can also draws in a symbolic way reflecting existing relations of the two regions.
The main objective of this contest is to celebrate Europe Day – May 9th and also to raise the awareness on the forthcoming Asia-Europe Meeting or the ASEM 9 Summit to be held in Vientiane by the end of this year.
"This drawing contest will help not only Lao students, but also their art teachers go in deep research on areas where two regions work in partnership and draw their imaginary master piece reflecting excellent relations of two continents," said Mr Michel Goffin, Chargé d'Affaires of the European Union Delegation in Vientiane.
This drawing contest will be divided into two categories, where first category will include students aged 10 to 14 years old and the second category will cover students aged 15 to 18 years olds. Participants are required to create their drawing on A4 size paper by using any drawing and painting materials of their preference. Drawing description can be provided on the same page of the drawing but should not exceed three sentences.
Three winners of each category will be selected and invited to receive prizes including educational fund and souvenirs from the EU during the Europe Day reception to be organised on the 3rd May 2012 at Lao Plaza Hotel Vientiane.
Over the last 5 years, the EU Delegation to Laos organised each a drawing contest on various topics such as Lao students' vision on the EU, gender equality and fight against climate change. More than 3500 entries have been received from nationwide and many prizes and souvenirs have been awarded to 50 winners.
The deadline for artwork submission is May 1st, 2012 before 16:00 hours at the EU Delegation in Vientiane.
