The EU project's beneficiaries to share best practice experience from the German Dual system and discuss how it can be used in Kazakhstan (07/02/2013)

ASTANA – On 8 February 2013, a press conference in the framework of the EU-funded  project "Support to the Vocational Education and Training System in the Republic of Kazakhstan" is to be held in Astana.

In December 2012, 20 Kazakhstani VET school teachers participated in a 6-week internship in five German Technical Colleges in order to gain hands-on practical experience of methods and procedures of a dual VET system. The Internship was the second of the three such internships organised by the EU-funded  project "Support to the Vocational Education and Training System in the Republic of Kazakhstan", implemented by GIZ and GOPA of Germany. The Internship Programme is unique, and is implemented for the first time within the EU-funded projects in Kazakhstan.

At the press conference,  the five different internship groups – two from ITC, two from Mechatronics and one from the Energy sector – will present their reports, based on their experience in Germany, on lessons learnt and recommendations for new initiatives in Kazakhstan to each other and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan and the organiser of the internship, the EU-funded project "Support to the Vocational Education and Training System in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

At this stage it can be revealed that the recommendations for new actions deal with methods and means to train and re-train VET teachers, facilitate contact between the companies and the VET schools, new teaching methods integrating theory and practice, new methods of assessment of qualifications, efficient functioning of the School Management Boards, project and group work and a higher degree of methodological freedom for the teachers.

Media are invited to the press conference due to be held on 8 February 2013, at 10.00 till 11.00, at the following address: Astana, Grand Park Esil Hotel, Beibitshylyk 8, “Turkiz” hall
