"Study in Europe": European Union holds its Education Fair in Astana (07/10/2010)

ASTANA – On 9 October 2010 the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan and the EU Member States' embassies will hold second of three Education Fairs. This non-profit information and awareness raising event aimed at promotion of education possibilities in Europe will take place in Astana, at the premises of Gumilev Eurasian National University (Munaytpasov str., 5 (main building, "Astana" atrium)).

During the Fair, 13 EU Member States (Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and United Kingdom) and the EU Delegation will present their stands with a wide range of information materials on education. Moreover, 10 country-specific presentations will be organized for the participants, as well as two presentations on the EU education programmes, including Erasmus Mundus Actions 1&2 and Tempus.

The opening ceremony will be hosted by the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Norbert Jousten and the Rector of the Eurasian National University named after L.Gumilev Mr. Bakhytzhan Abdrayim. The ceremony will be attended by H.E. Ambassador of Czech Republic Mr. Bedrich Kopecky, H.E. Ambassador of Spain Mr. Alberto Anton Cortes, H.E. Ambassador of Germany Reiner Schlageter, H.E. Ambassador of Greece Evangelos Denaxa and by the representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of RK.

The goal of the Education Fair is to familiarize Kazakhstani students, university professors and the general public with educational possibilities in Europe and to inform about EU scholarship programmes for citizens of Kazakhstan and Central Asia to pursue university studies in the EU Member States.

The first of three Educational Fairs “Study in Europe” was recently held in Almaty on 2 October 2010 with participation of 10 European Member States' delegations. Some 700 students, teachers, university professors attended the event, showing great interest in educational possibilities in Europe and relevant scholarship programmes. The Fair was opened by the Head of the EU Delegation Mr. Norbert Jousten, the Ambassador of Czech Republic Mr. Bedrich Kopecky, Vice-Director of the Central National State Museum Beibitkaly Kakabayev.

  • Astana, 9 October, 2010 – 12.00 – 15.00, at the premises of Gumilev Eurasian National University (Munaytpasov str., 5 (main building)).

The third European Education Fair will take place in Karaganda:

  • Karaganda, 15 October, 2010 - 14.00 – 17.00, at the premises of Karaganda State University named after Buketov (Universitetskaya st., 28).
