Launching of the Med Film Factory’s 3rd cycle in Amman (05/02/2014)

Amman, 1 February 2014 — Since Friday the 31st of January, film producers and screenwriters from Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria are meeting at the Royal Film Commission in Amman and undergoing a specialized training.

They are members of the finalist teams selected to Med Film Factory's 3rd cycle - an advanced training program for Arab filmmakers from the MENA region. They are participating in the first workshop of the current cycle: the Producers' Coaching Program. It is to be followed by two more training sessions: the Directors' Workshop, due to take place in April 2014 in Amman, and the Independent Film Assembly, scheduled to take place in May 2014.

Tutors and experts, who are accompanying the participants during this first workshop, include: Michel Feller (Belgium), Marianne Dumoulin (France), Magali Negroni (France), Rebecca O'Flanagan (Ireland), Stefano Tealdi (Italy), Nelleke Driessen (Netherlands) and Hager Karray (Tunisia). The Jordanian producer Rula Naser is presenting a case study about one of the Jordanian films she produced.

In parallel, a public screening of the film Les Terrasses (The Rooftops) by Merzak Allouache, in the presence of the producer Marianna Dumoulin, is scheduled to take place on Monday February 3rd, at 7.00 p.m. at the Rainbow Theatre.

Med Film Factory is organized by the Royal Film Commission - Jordan, in partnership with Sud Ecriture - Tunisia and the Huston School of Film & Digital Media – Ireland and co-financed by the Euromed Audiovisual Program of the European Union.
