The EU programme of financial and technical cooperation supports our partner countries' reform agendas. Around 25 projects are currently being carried out across a wide-range of sectors, regions and cities in Jamaica, Belize, Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
EU assistance in the regionfocuses in particular on support to debt reduction and economic growth, security sector reform, strengthening regional integration, rural development, human rights and private sector development. EU funding, delivered in the form of grants, for interventions in Jamaica, Belize, Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands is provided in the form of grants through contracts and increasingly through budget support.
In Jamaica some 65 per cent of total assistance has been delivered through the budget support modality in 2009.
