European Union Visitors Programme

What is the EUVP?

The European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP) invites young, promising leaders from countries outside the European Union to visit Europe to gain a first-hand appreciation of the EU's goals and policies.  For 2015, 6 visitors from India (incl. Bhutan) will be selected. The total number of visitors worldwide is generally about 160.

The EUVP is jointly sponsored and administered by the European Parliament and the European Commission. An EUVP visit consists of a 5- to 8-day programme of meetings with EU officials at the EU institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg and/or Luxembourg. The EUVP Secretariat organises the programme and covers travel and per diem costs.

The program has been in operation since 1974. Since 1992, more than 82 promising leaders from different walks of life including politics, academics, media and the business community of India have taken part in the programme and constitute an important facet of the friendship between the EU and India.

Eligible applicants include policy-makers, legislators, politicians, advisers to government, members of think-tanks, civil society leaders, young journalists and academicians.
