EU invests 11,5 mln euro into the programme «Employment and Vocational Education and Training in Belarus» (15/12/2015)
On 14 December 2015 the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus held an official ceremony of transmitting the Financing Agreement between the EU and the government of Belarus signed by the Belarusian side on the EU funded programme "Employment and Vocational Education and Training".
The overall objective of the action is to enhance the employment prospects of youth and adults by ensuring greater synergy between the VET system supply and the needs of the modern labour market, and improve quality and attractiveness of the VET system in Belarus.
"The requirements of the modern labour market change rapidly and many occupations for which we train students today will not be needed in the near future. At the same time new occupations and skills are needed for new jobs which might not even be known for us yet. One qualification or diploma achieved through a formal education system is not sufficient to make our workforce and citizens competitive and employable on the labour market. This calls for creating opportunities for lifelong learning and therefore we need to develop a flexible education and training system which allows young people and citizens of all ages to continuously learn and update their skills and competences and get also a formal recognition for skills and learning which has taken place outside the formal education system," said Andrea Wiktorin, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus.
The duration of the program is 5 years with an expected beginning of its implementation in the end of 2016 -beginning of 2017.
