MEPs will meet their Eastern counterparts for 3rd time in Brussels 28-29 May (24/05/2013)
MEPs will meet with their counterparts from EU's Eastern neighbourhood countries — Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine — for the 3rd time in Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly on 28 and 29 May in Brussels. Partners will seek to agree on common security issues, trade, energy cooperation and social issues and discuss political messages for upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius.
What's on agenda?
The Assembly, chaired by co-presidents Kristian Vigenin (S&D, BG) and Borys Tarasyuk (UA, Verkhnova Rada), will seek to adopt joint reports on subjects of regional security, trade, energy cooperation and social issues.
During the assembly there will be a meeting on working group on Belarus with invited Belarussian opposition representatives (in camera). Assembly will debate financing instruments for Eastern partnership and a political message for Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius (November 2013).
Formal opening of plenary with address of Vice-President of the EP Mr Jacek Protasiewicz, co-chairs and EU Neighbourhood Commissioner Mr Štefan FÜLE will take place at 16.00 on Tuesday 28 May in PHS 3C50.

Background: What is EURONEST?
EURONEST is a multi-lateral parliamentary institution which brings together Members of the European Parliament with those of the Eastern European Partner countries pursuing a project of European integration, political association and deeper economic inter-action. Armenia , Azerbaijan , Georgia , Moldova and Ukraine are currently members of EURONEST. Belarus for the time being does not take part in the Assembly's activities, due to political reasons.
