The framework for EU co-operation dialogue with Brunei is the EU-ASEAN Agreement of 1980, to which it adhered in 1984.
Currently, there is no EU bilateral cooperation agreement with Brunei.
By virtue of its advanced level of economic development Brunei does not benefit from bilateral development or economic projects. EC co-operation with Brunei has for the greater part been limited to joint EC- ASEAN projects.
