Trade policy reviews
Trade policy reviews: the Trade Policy Review Body (TPRB) is at the centre of the WTO surveillance work. All WTO members' trade policies are reviewed. The frequency of each country’s review varies according to its share of world trade. The EU's trade policy is reviewed every two years - as are the policies of the US, Japan and China. The most recent review of the EU trade policy took place on 16 and 18 July 2013.
The main objectives of the trade policy reviews are to ensure transparency and increase the understanding of the policies and practices of Members. The EU is an active player in the TPRB. We participate in all of the regular reviews by submitting in advance written questions and by commenting actively on the trade policies and practices of other Members.
