The European Commission (EC) has allocated a total of EUR 31 million to implement a range of projects through the National Indicative Programme (NIP) for Uruguay during 2007-2013. Sixty percent of this amount is aimed at social and regional cohesion, while the remaining 40% is dedicated to innovation, research and economic development.

Priority projects include consolidation of regional integration (Mercosur) and, once the negotiation process has come to an end, the implementation of the Association Agreement (AA) between Mercosur and the European Union (EU).

The European Commission also funds actions related to human rights, food security, gender equality, decentralised co-operation and co-financed projects with NGOs.
