Working with WHO (World Health Organization)

Cooperation between the European Union and the World Health Organization takes place on the basis of the exchange of letters between the World Health Organisation and the Commission of the European Communities concerning the consoldiation and intensification of cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding defines priorities, procedures, as well as areas of cooperation, which are: health information, health monitoring and disease surveillance, exchange of information and experience, health related research, resources and secondment of staff.

With the EURO Regional Office of WHO cooperation takes place in the framework of the Moscow Declaration in six categories: health security, health innovation, health systems strengthening, health inequalities, health information, as well as how EU Delegations and WHO offices in third countries might work together more effectively.
