The EU Emissions Trading System – EU ETS (27/07/2015)

The EU Emissions Trading System – EU ETS – gets ready for the next decade with a new proposal presented today by the European Commission.

What's new?
1. Faster emissions cuts after 2020 in the sectors covered by the system (factories, power plants and flights within the EU)
2. More targeted support to industry and low-carbon innovation...
3. Funding to help lower-income Member States modernise their energy systems and boost energy efficiency

This will help the EU achieve its target to cut emissions by at least 40% by 2030 and do its part for the new global climate deal.
