Euromed Youth Programme Phase IV  ()

The EU has been supporting the Youth in the region through the Euro-Mediterranean Youth Programme since 1999.

The goal of Euromed Youth Programme IV is to support and strengthen the participation and contribution of youth organisations and youth from the Euro-Mediterranean region towards the development of civil society and democracy.

The programme is designed to facilitate encounters, partnerships and networks within the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.

Phase IV of the Euro-Med Youth Programme (2010-2013), has a budget of 5 Million Euros financed by the EU.

The Euromed Youth Programme Phase IV will fund projects (between 5,000 and 25,000 Euros) that promote one or more of following thematic regional and national priorities:

The regional priorities:

  • Fighting against racism and xenophobia;
  • Environmental protection;
  • Support to Gender equality;
  • Human rights;
  • Participation of young people in development of civil society and democracy.

National priority issues for Jordan:

  • Enhancing the role of civil societies and the freedom of expression and spreading the culture of dialogue.
  • Prioritizing youth issues as a high national priory by providing youth with knowledge, training, rehabilitation and enhancing the values of active citizenship .and their participation in political development and political reform.
  • Enhancing the participation of women in the political reform process and the sustainable development through applying the true definition for gender balance and providing equal opportunities for woman in empowerment and decision making.
  • Enhancing the human rights culture and it’s principles through revising national legislations providing full participation in political life.

The objectives are to be attained through 3 different types of Actions as envisaged by the Euro-Med Youth Programme:

  • Action 1 Euro-Med Youth Exchanges: Project based on a transnational partnership between two or more organisations from different countries.
  • Action 2 Euro-Med Youth Voluntary Service: Project offering young people an opportunity to carry out a long or short term volunteering activity in one of the 8 ENPI countries/territories. The volunteer/s is/are hosted in one particular organisation of the ENPI South country (eg Jordan).
  • Action 3 Euro-Med Youth Training and Networking: Project which support the training of youth and youth organisations of the Euro-Mediterranean region (youth leaders, youth trainers, young people), Possible activities: study visit, partnership building activity, seminar, training course.

A call for proposals has been launched on 14 April 2011, with 6 deadlines (from 2011 to 2013) for applicants to submit their project proposals.

The Euromed Youth Programme complements the EU's assistance in other relevant areas, such as education, vocational training and civic participation. This assistance signifies its support for the region's promising youth and its commitment to investing in their young people.  It is one of the key objectives of the EU-Jordan partnership.
