Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the reported death of 13 children caused by a fire in a Muslim school in Myanmar

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:
“The High Representative is deeply troubled by reports of deaths of 13 children caused by a fire in the dormitory of a Muslim school in Yangon today. She expresses her condolences to the families of the victims.
The High Representative calls on the authorities to urgently conduct a thorough investigation that will leave no doubt as to the causes of this tragic incident.”
