Reported launch of three ballistic missiles by the DPRK

Statement by the Spokesperson on the reported launch of three ballistic missiles by the DPRK

Earlier today the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is reported to have launched three ballistic missiles.  If confirmed, it would be yet another in a string of serious violations by the DPRK of its international obligations as set out in multiple UN Security Council Resolutions. The DPRK must halt all missile launches using ballistic missile technology and abandon its ballistic missile programmes in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.

Peace and stability in the region require that DPRK immediately halt these illegal actions that serve no purpose other than increase tensions to the detriment of all.  We reiterate once again our urgent call on the DPRK  to re-engage in a credible and meaningful dialogue with the international community, in particular in the framework of the Six Party Talks.
