The EU-LAC Foundation is a foundation established under German civil law in Hamburg in 2011, following a decision of the VI EU-LAC Summit, with the objectives of contributing to the strengthening of the bi-regional partnership process, encouraging mutual knowledge and understanding between the regions and enhancing the visibility of partnership.

Seeking candidates for post of Executive Director of the EU-Latin America and Caribbean (EU-LAC) Foundation.

The EU-LAC Foundation is a foundation established under German civil law in Hamburg in 2011, following a decision of the VI EU-LAC Summit, with the objectives of contributing to the strengthening of the bi-regional partnership process, encouraging mutual knowledge and understanding between the regions and enhancing the visibility of partnership. The four year term of the current Executive Director (ED) will end on 31 October. In accordance with the Foundation´s Statutes, the next ED will be a citizen of an EU Member State.

The salary will be commensurate with experience. The Board of Governors of the Foundation, comprising representatives of all CELAC and EU Member States and the EU, is responsible for appointing the ED on the basis of an EU-proposed candidate for the post. The person appointed does not need to be an official of the EU or of a Member State, but must be able to count on the confidence of the EU Member States and the EEAS.

It is expected that the Board of Governors will decide on this appointment at its next meeting, in October or November 2015. It is hoped that the person appointed will be available to take up the post in Hamburg no later than 1 January 2016. The contract of the current ED may be extended on a temporary basis to cover the interim.
