The People's meeting: Course on the EU

The EU Info Centre will be hosting a course called “everything you wanted to know about the EU but were afraid to ask” at the People's meeting, a lively festival that will take place in the Nordic house between the 11th and the 13th of June. The course will be held on Friday the 12th of June between 14:00 and 17:00.

The course will be divided into two parts, the first will be about the history and development of the European Union and the other on its role and policies. Dr. Eirikur Bergmann, Professor of Politics and Director of the Centre for European Studies at Bifrost University, and Magnus Arni Magnusson, associate Professor at Bifrost University will provide a fun and enlightening introduction to the EU and the main features of European cooperation. As the title itself suggests, there will be time given for questions and discussion.

The People’s meeting is the first of its kind to be held in Iceland and is inspired by similar festivals that have become an indispensable part of the summer in the other Nordic countries.  Tents and small cabins will be erected at the site wherein various NGO's will be hosting various events throughout the festival.  Besides the various dicussions to be held there will also be musical events and guests will be able to purchase both food and drinks on site.

The festival is hosted by the Nordic house, the Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland, Almannaheill, City of Reykjavik and the Minister for Nordic Cooperation.
