The Effects of Climate Change on the Ocean Biosphere

An open seminar hosted by the Iceland Nature Conservation Association, the French Embassy in Iceland, the EU Info Centre and the Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland Tuesday June 2 from 09:00-10:30 at the National Museum of Iceland.

The seminar will focus on the effects of climate change on the ocean biosphere, ocean acidification and changing fish migration and its effects on Iceland.  What actions are being taken by international environmental protection organisations and the EU to counter these developments?  Furthermore, the main focal points at the COP21 conference in Paris will be discussed.

Kelly Rigg – Founder and Director of The Varda Group, which provides international strategic and campaign advice with a special focus on environmental protection.
Attilio Gambardella – Policy Officer at the Climate Action and Earth Observations Unit in the DG Research & Innovation of the European Commission.
Haukur Þór Hauksson – Deputy Manager of Fisheries Iceland.
Philippe O’Quin – French Ambassador to Iceland.

Moderator: Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson – Director of the Icelandic Environment Association.

The seminar will take place in English and is open to all.

Coffee and light refreshments will be served from 8:30 to 9:00.
