Presentation of the Horizon 2020 programme - Secure societies

At the launch of the new research programme of the European Union - Horizon 2020, Rannis, The Icelandic Centre for Research, organises a presentation of the programme Secure Societies – protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens.

This is a new programme and will therefore be presented comprehensively. It is of great interest for companies and organisations engaged in research and want to expand their international cooperation. Next application deadlines are 18 June and 28 August.

The programme presentation takes place Thursday 27 February at 09:15 - 11:30 at Grand Hotel, Reykjavik.

09:15 Coffee and registration

09:30 Presentation of the Horizon 2020 programme, Secure Societies, followed by Q&As. - Dr. Andrei Lintu, representative of the European Commission, REA.

11:00 Support for applicants – Kristmundur Þór Ólafsson, Rannis

Applicants planning to send in applications will be able to enjoy personalised sessions with a specialist from the European Commission. For those interested, please contact Kristmundur Olafsson,, before Monday 24 February, since limited number of sessions are available.

The programme is divided into 4 categories:

  • Disaster-resilience: safeguarding and securing society, including adapting to climate change,
  • Fight against crime and Terrorism,
  • Border Security and External Security,
  • Digital Security: Cybersecurity, Privacy and Trust.
