Full house at a book party

Oddný Eir Ævarsdóttir receives the 2014 European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) on November 18, which recognises the best new and emerging authors in Europe.

On this occasion the publishing company Bjartur, the European Union Prize for Literature and Evrópustofa hosted a book party on the fourth floor of Eymundsson, Austurstræti, last Thursday, 13 November. There was truly a reason for festivities since Oddný Eir recently published a new book: Ástarmeistarinn (Love Master).

Nearly a hundred people showed up and listened to Oddný Eir say a few well-chosen words and a brief discussion on the award and the conclusions of the jury, by Auður Aðalsteinsdóttir, president of the Icelandic EUPL jury.

Then guests enjoyed light refreshments and listened to Magga Stina, Jakob Smári Magnússon bassist and Pétur Hallgrímsson guitarist, covers of songs by Bubbi. The programme was in the hands of Rebekka Þráinsdóttir.
