Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili has granted the EU Delegation to Georgia's agricultural attaché Juan Jose Echanove the Golden Fleece Order for his contribution to Georgia’s agricultural development over the last five years.

Juan Echanove thanked Gharibashvili for recognizing his work and expressed hope for deepening this cooperation. "This is a great honour for me and the whole of the European Union. We are and will continue to work together with the Georgian people and the Government of Georgia in trying to support the agricultural sector. We are very happy to see all of the progress made in the agricultural sector, a priority sector for both the Government and of the European Union. The EU is providing substantial support in agriculture to establish cooperatives, advisory services to the farmers, better policy-making, food safety and rural development".

Prime Minister Gharibashvili praised Juan Echanove's intensive cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and its agencies, and for conducting a support campaign to popularise the agricultural sector.

“Juan has contributed greatly to developing the agricultural field, which is why our progress and positive results have been achieved partly due to him. I would especially put an emphasis on the regional consultation centres and development of cooperation,”- said Minister of Agriculture Otar Danelia after the meeting.

Juan is one of 18 project managers implementing EU bilateral cooperation projects in Georgia in a variety of sectors.
