EUPOL condemns yesterday’s terrorist attack against Afghan demonstrators

Kabul, 24 July 2016. The European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL Afghanistan) strongly condemns yesterday’s terrorist attack in which more than 80 civilians have lost their lives and nearly 230 received injuries. The flags at EUPOL Afghanistan HQ are at half-mast. The EUPOL mission members are in their thoughts with the people of Afghanistan on this national day of mourning.

The EUPOL Head of Mission Ms. Pia Stjernvall shares her thoughts and prayers with the victims and their families by quoting the famous Afghan poet Rumi: “Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure.”

We, as EUPOL, are committed to continue our support to the people of Afghanistan, especially to the Afghan National Police and the justice sector so that the citizens of this country will have a safe and peaceful future.” says Ms. Stjernvall.
